At Innogen we:

• focus on crosscutting themes of uncertainty, governance, risk, regulation, globalisation and public engagement with science

• study the legal and ethical principles that influence the regulation and governance of the new life sciences and their effect on innovation, nationally and internationally

• contribute to the debate on the legitimacy of public involvement in decisions about scientific research

Intellectual property

• study the role of patents and copyrights in innovation in the life sciences and how intellectual property rights (IPRs) can impede innovation and competition

Interdisciplinarity

• study the nature of interdisciplinarity and provide insights about the kinds of enabling infrastructure that support collaboration, information-sharing and leveraging of resources
