Global health
At Innogen we:
- investigate the potential for life sciences and biotechnology to reduce hunger, disease and poverty globally
- research and develop the potential to strengthen health systems and health policy through integration of innovative research and technologies
- study the relationship between health innovation, technological capacity and development activities within developing countries
- analyse and contribute to policy and capacity building for ‘product development partnerships’ (PDPs) to exchange knowledge and build links between national level partners, including scientific researchers and healthcare practitioners
- study the role of ‘product development partnerships’ (PDPs) and ‘public private partnerships’ (PPPs) in promoting and developing new health technologies for programmes globally including the International Aids Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) and the Global Alliance for Vaccine Initiatives (GAVI)
- study the potential of ‘below the radar’ networks and knowledge to develop social and physical technologies for global health
Translational medicine
Translational Medicine (TM) develops and uses of new scientific methods and technology. It takes an interdisciplinary approach, and encourages collaboration to help facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise between basic and clinical science from ‘bench to bedside’ and back again.
- analyse how TM is thought about and put into practice, in the UK and internationally
- consider the impact of TM on scientific research and the implications for drug development
