Outline: Innovation in biotechnology and the life sciences is expected to play a key role in the UK's economic recovery. Yet difficult issues confront policymakers concerning both the exploitation and the regulation of new technologies for health, energy, agriculture and environment. At this event, researchers from the ESRC's Genomics Network draw on past experience to emphasise the need for extensive scientific and social-scientific research to inform political decision making.
