21 December 2006 - ESRC Genomics Network responds to decision to extend egg sharing licence

The ESRC Genomics Network (EGN) has responded with concern to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority’s (HFEA) decision to extend the North East England Stem Cell Institute (NESCI) team’s egg sharing arrangement.

Exploring the controversial issue of egg donation for medical research, an expert panel¹ of scientists, ethicists and activists will address the public’s concerns in a ‘Question Time’ style debate this Thursday (23 November 2006).

The ESRC Genomics Policy and Research Forum, based at the University of Edinburgh, will officially launch its first artist in residence programme on Wednesday 27 September 2006, at the Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh. The programme is being run in association with the Gallery.

21 March 2006 - Eminent Chinese Scientists visit Edinburgh

The ESRC Genomics Forum, based at the University of Edinburgh, will today (Tuesday 21 March 2006) welcome a high powered delegation of Chinese natural and social scientists to Edinburgh to discuss the issues and impacts of modern life sciences in China and the UK.

13 March 2006 - Sound science - fact or fiction?

13 March 2006 In light of the recent stem cell cloning controversy in Korea, and subsequent investigations into other scientists accused of fabricating research results, the ESRC Genomics Policy and Research Forum is hosting a public debate Sound Science? Hope, Trust, Policy and Science Fraud to explore the impact science fraud has on trust between scientists, policy-makers and the public, and how we can guard against it. The event is part of the ESRC’s Social Science Week and takes place on Thursday 16th March 2006, 4.30-6.30pm, One Birdcage Walk, London.
