The ESRC Genomics Policy and Research Forum will join with the National Natural Science Foundation of China for an international workshop entitled “Modern Biology and Its Social Impact” on 22-24 of March 2006 in Edinburgh.
The workshop will allow top natural and social scientists from Britain and China to compare how policy, society and science interact in different cultural contexts.
“Scientific discoveries cannot be contained by national borders,” said Forum Director Michael Banner. “Events such as this allow us to compare notes with colleagues in other contexts as we all seek to understand better the social ramifications of the rapid advancement of genomics.”
