Researcher Name: Paul Oldham Project Start Date: 01.10.2007 Project End Date: 30.09.2012 Contact Details: p.oldham@lancaster.ac.uk Funder: Background: At Cesagen work on synthetic biology focuses on metholological and theoretical questions in tracking and understanding synthetic biology. Paul Oldham is focusing on tracking synthetic biology as it emerges in the patent system. This forms part of an ongoing engagement with the ETC Group and wider efforts to understand the implications of synthetic biology for the conservation of biological diversity. Paul initially focused on tracking patents by the J. Craig Venter Institute in connection with synthetic genomes. Since then work has focused on mapping researchers working on synthetic biology from Web of Science into the international patent system.
