Research Objectives:
My research is called ‘The role of social scientists: in innovation processes: the case of nanotechnology’. My PhD aims to explore the views of social scientists about their roles in the development of nanotechnology, a highly beneficial but at the same time potentially controversial technology. In recent years, social scientists have become increasingly involved with nanotechnology as researchers and as active participants. My research will examine the roles social scientists undertaken within this process and the implications of their involvement for science and technology policy making and for the social sciences as a field. While I will focus on social scientists accounts, scientists and engineers’ views of social scientists will also be examined.
