Leah stuied at the University of Edinburgh as an undergraduate, graudating in 2006 with a degree in Sociology. She then trained as a primary school teacher, working in the Edinburgh area for four years before returning to the university to begin an ESRC funded 1 + 3 scholarship in Science, Technology and Innovation Studies.
Her research concerns gender and gamete donation, examining the ways in which gender mediates people's views and/or experiences of donating the UK. Given the current open-identity, cost-neutral context in the UK, an exploration of kinship and altruism will be central to the project, particularly the ways in which such discourses and practices are gendered. Her wider research interests include feminist research and theory, sociology of the body, education, kinship and Marxist theory.
