UN Convention on Biological Diversity
Date Released: 01 December 2009Dr Paul Oldham is contributing to the development of a new international protocol on access to genetic resources.
Last week Dr. Oldham gave a series of presentations on open source approaches at the Working Group on Access and Benefit-Sharing in Montreal. With support from the Africa Group, a set of Cesagen proposals relating to licensing, non-commercial research and ICT tools passed through three readings by 112 participating governments. The proposals have now been incorporated into the negotiating text for the new protocol to be adopted in Nagoya, Japan in October 2010.
