More thoughts about the genome as a space. The protean is a carrier of the DNA. There is a mutual dependency. This space of 'mutual co-existence' does, I think, relate to the concept of pre-birth space that has been the focus of much recent feminist psychoanalytic theory (for example, The Matrixial Gaze , Lichtenberg Ettinger, B. who is both an artist and psychoanalyst). The argument here is that theory negates, or is formed without reference to, its origin in the bodies of women, and that, within language, there are no signifiers for the space that is shared by mother/unborn child.
