A discussion with Steve Hughes; we compared concepts of form in art, science, cyberspace and psychoanalysis. Is it possible to move outside the dominant models for conceptualising material form that dominate visual art (and possibly science)?
I think it likely that the material practices of art and genomic research (this includes, information about genomics presented in hardcopy) are similarly limited by a kind of presentation that favours 'solidity' above liquids (or indeed any substance that tends towards a formlessness and that is not contained by borders).
