Genetics in the Dock at Hay

Egenis Director Professor John Dupré joined Lord Robert Winston at ‘HowTheLightGetsIn’, the philosophy festival at Hay, to discuss whether or to what extent our genes define who we are.
HowTheLightGetsIn, the world's only philosophy and music festival, is taking place at Hay-on-Wye from Friday 28 May to Friday 6 June. Professor Dupré was a discussant in the session ‘Genetics in the Dock’, together with Robert Winston, Lewis Wolpert and Mary Midgley, on Sunday, 30 May.
The discussion was to explore the way that developments in the biological sciences have altered the way we think about human life, addressing the question: Are we simply vehicles for our genes or is there more to being human than genetics would propose?
