Representatives of the ESRC Genomics Network including Egenis attended this year's meeting of the international Human Genome Organisation in Berlin. Opened by Germany's science and education minister Edelgard Bulmahn, the meeting brought together leading researchers as well as a growing number of social scientists interested in the social implications of human genome research. Talks addressed topics ranging from large-scale structural variation within the human genome to the process of collecting DNA samples from a Yoruba community in Nigeria for the international HapMap research project.
