New project at Egenis on Apomixis

Apomixis is a mode of plant reproduction akin to “self-cloning”, whereby plants produce seed asexually which replicates and conserves the maternal type in its DNA. Many plant scientists regard Apomixis as a mechanism for capturing strengths produced by hybridization. Geneticists and molecular biologists are labouring to identify the genomic components which enable Apomixis. Read more about the project.
