Major conferences and events at which Cesagen will be represented this summer include:

New Sciences of Protection: Designing Safe Living
Lancaster Institute for Advanced Studies, Lancaster University, UK
10 - 11 July 2008

Cesagen visitor Professor Sheila Jasanoff, Pforzheimer Professor of Science and Technology Studies, Harvard University, is giving a plenary talk: “Taking Risks for Safety: The US Discourse on Precaution”.
Researchers from Cesagen Lancaster will present papers and lead sessions at this conference investigating ‘protection’ at the intersections of security, sciences, technologies, markets and design.

Richard Tutton and Paul Oldham are tutors at this summer school which aims to bring together PhD students and postdocs from the life sciences, humanities, and social sciences with senior researchers and scholars from a range of different fields for a week of intensive interdisciplinary communication.
