Cesagen Director interviewed on Norwegian popular science radio programme

Date Released: 02 June 2010

On a recent visit to Norway, Professor Ruth Chadwick was interviewed on Norwegian radio programme 'Verdt å vite' (“Well worth knowing”).

Professor Chadwick was interviewed about the ethical dilemmas of mapping the human genome. Making genetic profiling accessible to ordinary citizens might create new ethical dilemmas regarding ownership and privacy, as well as the financial and human resources it will demand to be able to implement and interpret these tests through genetic counseling. Professor Chadwick points out that the extended availability of genetic profiling might make our ethics change.  New technology can make us look at things differently, and there is more to it than a need for regulations.

The programme aired Tuesday 11 May 2010. Listen to Verdt å vite

(the interview with is during the last session, about 17 minutes after the start of the programme).
