engaged is a research group coordinated by the Beacon for Wales – part of a UK wide initiative concerned with public engagement as a core facet of academic labour. Whilst there is overlap with expressions/interpretations of engagement as knowledge transfer, the commercialization of academic knowledge or widening access - the Beacon emphasizes the cultural and social benefits of engagement and the integration of publics into academic inquiry. is a research group coordinated by the Beacon for Wales – part of a UK
engaged is intended as an opportunity for colleagues to come together to critically discuss the multiple implications of the engagement agenda. Discussions will focus in and around examples of current engagement activity provided by ‘engagement active’ academics. Membership to the group however is not exclusively academic and we invite interest from all sections of the University and outwith. is intended as an opportunity for colleagues to come together to critically
engaged is intended as an open learning forum where colleagues can share, workshop and explore new directions in public engagement. We hope that its interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral approach will foster a broader more collaborative basis to the knowledge, understanding and practice of engagement. In so doing we hope to develop the epistemological basis of engagement, paying particular attention to innovative approaches in methodology.
