Professor Dr. Alain Pompidou is a Member of the French Academy of Technologies and an Honorary member of the European Parliament. Between 2004 and 2007 he served as President of the European Patent Office.
Professor Pompidou’s lecture will address questions raised by the new bioknowledge economy including:
- the use of natural biological resources
- their technical transformation
- the monopolies related to patent rights and technology transfer
- the recognition of traditional knowledge
- the regulation of exploitation based on market rules
He will consider the need for a comprehensive and properly balanced policy to be addressed and shared by all stakeholders for the socio-economical benefit of the different populations and countries across the world.
